what is the future outlook on arthritis medications and cures?
i have just been diagnosed with osteo-arthritis in both hips. and i’m so upset and worried, i’m 25 yrs old and hoping that in the near future there will be a cure. Are there other alternative medicines or asian treatments that would help??
From my understanding, osteo-arthritis is pretty much damage already done (a wear-and-tear type of arthritis) so the best thing to do is stay in shape to minimize the stress on your joints. Try water exercise in a heated pool. It will soothe your joints and keep them limber.
And a note about the suggestion that you eliminate dairy… there’s lots of different diets that go around but I think you’ll find that very few rheumatologists reccommend these elimination diets. Talk to your doctor first. Remember you are at a higher risk for osteoporosis with arthritis, so doing something like cutting out dairy would make it harder for you to get your necessary calcium.
